Chappals hurled at Jagan's house

The Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to scrap the lands allotment deal to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Saraswathi Cements has created a storm for Jagan. Few days ago the company destroyed the standing crops in the land allotted to them and even attacked several farmers who tried to resist the destruction. Government then cancelled the 1,534 acres of land (613.476 hectares) was acquired from 495 small and marginal farmers since 2006 for setting up the cement company citing that the company did not begin any construction there till now.

YSR Congress termed the deal cancellation as discouraging the investors in the state while it is in catch 22 situation in which they have to answer the farmers who are attacked and got their crops destroyed by the company representatives. 300 affected farmers staged a protest in front of Jagan’s Lotus pond residence and even hurled chappals at the house demanding public apology and compensation for the crop loss suffered. This issue will be of a significant affect on political future of YSR Congress.
