chiranjeevi backsteps on land acquisition actChandrababu Naidu’s government is carefully treading on the issue of the Land Acquisition in Capital Villages. Given that the issue can be a lifeline to the opposition parties, the government is carefully vying all the options before it.

Few days ago we have seen the government issuing G.O 166 exempting the land acquisition in the capital notified villages from Food Security and Social Impact Assessment clauses in the Land Acquisition Act. The collectors in respective districts should issue notification of the acquisition to begin the exercise however it did not happen till date.

On the other side, writ petition filed by Abhista Realty and Ventures Private Ltd and others in the Vacation Court of Hyderabad high court challenging the G.O. 166. The State’s Additional Advocate General Dammalapati Srinivas on the behalf of the government told the Hyderabad High Court that it will not issue any statutory notification for acquiring lands for the Capital Region immediately which means Chandrababu had taken back-step on the issue for now.
