Modi-KCR-abn-Tv9-ban

The Central government has taken the ban on ABN-Andhra Jyothy and TV9 Channels very seriously after Congress MP Renuka Chowdary and TDP MP Sujana Chowdary took up the issue in Rajya Sabha in the last couple of days. It is said that Modi has passed stern instructions to concerned Minister Prakash Javadekar to resolve the issue at the earliest. Javadekar met the MSOs a short while ago and gave them a final warning.

Javadekar asked them to resume the services of TV9 and ABN-Andhra Jyothy by Monday or get ready for suspension of their licenses. Earlier in the day, the minister in Rajya Sabha stated that the government is considering the issue seriously. He even sent an indirect message to KCR government. “We wrote a letter to Telangana government and got a reply that Telangana government is not at all involved in the issue. We expect the same stance from the state government when we take up the issue with Telangana MSOs”.

It is known that the channels were banned by the MSOs of the region after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao slammed them in Assembly for airing derogatory news on the region. Andhra Jyothy had taken the issue to the concerned officials, central government and the governor but the ban is still in place. Journalists allege that it is KCR’s government behind MSOs in this ban issue.
