RAJNATH-singhCentral government today tabled amendments to Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. Home Minister Rajnath Singh introduced the amendments in Lok Sabha which increases the number of MLC seats in Andhra Pradesh Council from 50 to 58.

The 90 MLC Seats in the United State were divided 50 to AP and 40 to Telangana according to the bifurcation act but according to the local body number, Andhra Pradesh was supposed to get 58 seats. The mistake is now rectified by the Union Law Ministry and Home Ministry by amendment in Lok Sabha.

On the other side, TRS MP objected moving this amendment. He clarified that his government has no issues with increasing of MLC seats in AP but Center should first focus on solving various problems plaguing both the states. He also pointed out that Center should consult both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh before making any amendments to the Act. Rajnath Singh replied that this is center’s first step in solving the problems of the bifurcation.
