Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu’s Loan Waiver announcement has brought in lot of smiles on the faces of farming community in the state. The opposition leader was constantly telling the waiver is not possible and the Telangana government which is enjoying a surplus budget has just delivered 1 Lakh waiver for a family, but Mr.Naidu has pulled off a blinder making 1.5 Lakhs waiver per household. Also Chandra Babu is waiving off loans to the extent of 1 Lakh to each DWACRA group and weavers.
Many are expecting Naidu to backtrack on this promise due to the deficit budget of the state, so most of the people are happy with the amount being waived. This is the biggest loan waiver ever done in the country and is making close to 97% families in the state absolutely debt free. In the past, when loan waiver is carried out, governments have not considered the people who have paid their loans well in time but Chandra Babu extended the waiver even to them and scripted history.
This move of the government will also put the opposition parties on back foot who are expecting a failure in this issue. It is known that Loan Waiver to farmers is one of the prime promises of TDP before the elections. Opposition parties are continuously hounding the less than 2 months old government over this issue.
