Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu is likely to make an announcement regarding the next capital of the state on Tuesday (tomorrow) in the Assembly. AP cabinet meeting concluded a short while ago. The cabinet meeting went over 5 hours discussed the report of Siva Rama Krishnan Committee thoroughly. It was told that Chandra Babu instructed his colleagues not to speak to the media about the capital since assembly sessions are on.
According to reliable sources of M9News, the cabinet decided to reject the proposals of Siva Rama Krishnan committee and decided that the state capital will be near Vijayawada which will be accessible from every nook and corner of the state. It is also said that government has appointed a committee with Ministers Narayana, Yanamala and the MLAs of Krishna and Guntur for land acquisition and other requirements of the state capital.
It is known that the State government and the Siva Rama Krishnan Committee are at loggerheads over the state capital. While the state government is favouring capital between Vijayawada and Guntur, Siva Rama Krishnan Committee has rejected the proposal outright terming the difficulties in land acquisition and non availability of proper government lands, According to Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, State government will have the final say on the state capital decision.
