andhra pradesh poll money seizedElections in India have for far long been a display of money and power for the corrupt political parties. Continuing in the same vein, Bihar elections have so far yielded a sum of 14crores that has recently been confiscated.

This money has been confiscated under Election Commission’s drive in poll-bound Bihar to curb misuse of money power. Shockingly, this amount is double the money confiscated last year in Bihar during the Lok Sabha elections which was 6 crores showing a drastic increase in corrupt mentality. Moreover, aside from this 14 crores cash, Rs 61.17 lakh of foreign currency, Rs 58.12 lakh of Nepalese Rupee and Rs 16.26 lakh worth of fake Indian currency notes have also been seized by the authorities.

Meanwhile, to counter such problems, candidates in Bihar have been asked to open a separate bank account and incur their poll-related expenses from it. This move is being carried out to ensure greater transparency in the workings as well to make the monitoring of election expenses easier.
