Online piracy has come to be a big problem for filmmakers as they are cutting into their revenue streams.In this context, Gunasekhar, the director of film Rudramadevi had filed a complaint over the rampant online and physical piracy of his film.
The cyber police took swift action and have arrested three people involved in the piracy of which two are B.tech students. The charges are Piracy and cheating the public with dishonest intention to earn easy money. The students are as Prashanth Chaitankar and Pavan Kamble while Tanveer Ahmed is a businessman.
Owing to some financial crisis, Prashanth and his friend Pavan were operating movie sites where they copied the links of pirated movies and earned money through pop-up advertisements. The businessman Tanveer Ahmed, is also arrested on similar charges for committing the offence of piracy through a similar modus operandi.
