Brothel Customers to be prosecuted as well!Hyderabad High Court appealed to the legislature to consider the possibility of bringing Brothel Customers within the purview of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. According to the current act, only brothels are booked and their customers are let free.

Justice U Durga Prasad Rao of Hyderabad high court quashed one such case booked by Banjara Hills Police on a brothel customers as the current act does not permit such cases. However the judge opined that booking brothels and letting the customers roam free is gross injustice and the legislature should consider the change.

The judge directed the registry to transmit a copy of the judgment to the Union law minister for perusal. He is of the opinion that current ACt is providing Unwarranted sympathy (Brothel Customer) on a criminal and such move will not help achieve desired results in curbing prostitution.
