Hyderabad-police-body-cameras

KCR’s government in Telangana has decided to go Singapore’s way to saddle traffic violators in Hyderabad city. The City may very soon sport body cameras while on duty. This move will not only keep an eye on the violators but also check the cops from demanding any bribes for the vehicle owners. The footage will transmitted through 4G technology and will be monitored by a central control room. The footage thus collected will also be an evidence in Traffic violations.

The entire project is expected to cost one crore for the state exchequer with each camera costing 1.5 Lakhs. These cameras also have perfect night vision. Already a team of Police officials visited Singapore and studied the various models of Policing being implemented there. The body camera concept particularly impressed CM K Chandra Sekhar Rao and DSP Anurag Sharma. It is said that the pilot project of the cameras usage is already underway in Hyderabad. The police department is initially planning to purchase about 100 cameras after the pilot study is over.
