Popular cinematographer turned director Ashok Kumar passed away on Wednesday. He had been fighting for life since the past six months because of various ailments and had been taken to different hospitals for treatment. After his condition deteriorated left with no hope, his family brought him back home, where he passed away.

The ace camera man worked in more than hundred films for different languages namely Tamil, Telugu and even for Bollywood movies. He was honoured with National Award for his brilliant work in the Tamil film ‘Nenjathai Killathe’. Later he turned director and helmed successful movies like ‘Abhinandana’ (Telugu), ‘Andru Peitha Mazhayil’ (Tamil), and ‘Kaamagni’ (Hindi).

He got the oppurtunity to work with many stalwarts in the industry and his own contribution to Indian Cinema and especially to South Cinema is laudable. We the team of m9.news express our heart felt condolences on the demise of the ace cinematographer. May his soul rest in peace.
