While the Telangana government has given brand new cars and motorcycles to the Police in the state, the cash starved Andhra Pradesh government is struggling to allot enough funds for the Police department. The state government is currently thinking on the lines to allow the Police to use the vehicles seized from the red sanders smugglers. Currently there are 150 vehicles mostly Scorpios, Innovas with the Police department. Usually the seized vehicles are in the custody of the courts. The concerned district superintendents of police have been given directions to approach courts to clear legal hurdles for using those vehicles.

There is a severe shortage of funds for Andhra Pradesh Police but there is an immediate need for improving the infrastructure in the state. But the state government is looking at the Center for help. The state government recently highlighted the plight of AP Police to the members of the 14th Finance Commission, who came to the state and is keenly waiting for some sanction of funds.
