Introduction of Raitu Bazaars was one of the major achievements of TDP government in its previous government. The concept of the bazaars was to eliminate middlemen and make sure that farmers do sell their produce directly while consumers get to buy vegetables at predecided rates of the government. Now with Chandra Babu back at helm, further steps are planned to strengthen the existing model.
Governement is planning to have cold storage units in the Raitu Bazaars to prevent wastages. Government will also offer direct marketing facilities to farmers and Weighing machines with perfect standard weights will be provided at free of cost. There are currently 80 raitu bazaars in the 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh and government is very soon planning to start three more at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati.
