another strike in tollywood film industryAfter the lightning strike a month ago by the Telugu Film Industry mainly demanding for pay hike and improved working conditions, another strike seemed unlikely because of late the film chamber of commerce (APFCC) came out with an announcement of pay hike to the workers.

But since APFCC didn’t agree to two clauses set up by the FFE, once again problems surfaced. FFE has asked the producers council to abide to the clause that they would work only with the employees who have been registered with the Federation and they shouldn’t rope in anyone from outside who isn’t registered with FFE.

Another clause which also became a reason for the clash between the two bodies is regarding film chamber’s claim that increased wages aren’t applicable to the low budget films. But FFE says that whether it is a low budget or high budget film, the film workers have to give the same kind of work and services. And hence defining high and low budget films should be done.

With these differences, approximately 14,000 TFI workers will go on strike from Thursday. No Telugu movie can continue shooting during the strike period. The shootings of films like ‘Baabhbali’ and ‘Gopala Gopala’ which are on sets at present are going to suffer big way because of this strike. And many films’ release dates might have to suffer and go for postponement.
