The Siva Rama Krishnan Committee formed by the Central government to look in to the options for the possible state capital of Andhra Pradesh met state Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu a short while ago. The committee had given him a powerpoint presentation regarding their findings on various options for the state capital. The committee reportedly said Chandra Babu Naidu that the state capital can be built in the VGTM area (Vijaywada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri area) but at the same time expressed the weak-link of non availability of surplus government and forest lands in the area.

The committee is all set to submit its report by the end of August. The committee had toured various places in the 13 districts of the state and had studied the factors needed to make a good capital. The committee recently took Andhra Pradesh government’s opinion too in this aspect. It is said that Minister P.Narayana has informed the committee that government is in favour of capital between Vijayawada and Guntur as the place will be equidistant from all the districts of the state. More over there is enough water resources available there to cater the needs of the capital.
