An expert committee instilled by the Supreme Court had found that the treasure of the famous Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple is being stolen by some ‘influential’ persons in the temple management. The committee said the auditors who worked on the evaluation of the treasure have defaulted and reported wrong numbers. And the gold thus not shown in the accounts are stolen out of the vaults of the temple.
Also the committee found gold plating machines in the vaults which are used to make duplicate jewelry meaning original gold is being smuggled out of the temple. They have primarily found 17 Kgs of Gold was already smuggled out of the temple. The committe advised the Supreme Court to stop the influence of Travancore Royal Family in Temple administration. The Apex court had taken the committee report seriously and ordered for fresh auditing of the temple’s wealth. It is known that a treasure of gold worth over Rs 1 lakh crore was found some time back in the secret vaults of Lord Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Kerala.
