Amit Shah bats for AP's Special Status!At the time when every one have lost hopes on the Special Status for Andhra Pradesh, BJP National President, Amit Shah said that his party will not go back on the promised Special Status to the truncated state. He also added that they are in consultations with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu regarding this. Amit Shah was addressing media on the occasion of NDA government completing one year in office.

Couple of days ago, Finance Minister Arun Jaitely said that Andhra Pradesh can not be given Special Status due to the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission. Even Venkaiah Naidu was letting out various reasons for which Special Status can not be given with out actually saying No. This contrasting comments by the National leaders are leading people in to a state of confusion.

The then UPA government promised Special Status to Andhra Pradesh for 5 years. They did not incorporate it in to the Reorganization Act and instead, made the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh make a statement in the floor of the house. BJP promised Special Status for 10 years before the elections but now is blaming Congress for not keeping it in the Act.
