shobha-nagi-reddy-daughter-akhila-priya-allagaddaAkhila Priya, daughter of Late Shoba Nagi Reddy is elected unanimously in the Allagadda bi-election. Main parties Telugu Desam, Congress, CPI, CPM did not put up their candidates following the tradition of not putting up competition when an MLA expires while in office and his kin is contesting the bi-election.

Seven nominations including that of Akhila Priya were filed of which few were rejected and few have withdrawn. Election Commission will now formally announce the unanimous election of Akhila Priya.

It is known that YSR Congress MLA candidate Shoba Nagi Reddy expired in a road accident before the election. Since the time of withdrawal is over, he name remained on the EVMs. Election Commission had declared that they will be holding a bi-election if Shoba Nagi Reddy wins.

Finally YSR Congress won and the bi-election became inevitable. Earlier last month YSR Congress did not contest in the Nandigama bielection which was facilitated due to the death of the sitting member of TDP and the ruling party did not contest in Allagadda to reciprocate the help.
