Vizag VAT taxThe Hudhud Cyclone has not only hit the commoners on streets of Uttarandhra but also the Andhra Pradesh government. The truncated state which is already suffering from the deficit budget is depending on its monthly income from survival but the Hudhud is likely to disturb that too.

Vishakapatnam forms the major chunk of revenue source in Tax collections. Companies and industries which are affected by the Cyclone have requested the government to give them more time to file their Taxes. This is expected to be a total of 150 Crore.

Also the VAT revenue from Vishakapatnam will be some where around 600 Crore, a major share of it coming from the petroleum companies located there. Their stand is yet to be known. If at all those companies also seek more time to pay the VAT, then the government will be in real trouble.

The government is planning to use some part of the 5500 Crore released by the center for MNREGA to increase the green cover of the Vishakapatnam as it will fit in to the guidelines of MNREGA. Chandrababu is putting pressure on the Center to release the promised 1000 Crore immediate help to come out of this crisis for the time being.
