aagadu-in-second-place

Superstar Mahesh Babu Aagadu has collected approximately 10 Cr on opening day making it the second biggest opening of all time in Telugu cinema. The film’s poor performance in Ceded territory and smaller centers hurt its chance badly to create a new day 1 record which is currently held by Pawan Kalyan’s Atharintiki Daredi.

The collections of the film have been fantastic in all the A centers of the state. These are the centers mainly responsible for the high number on the opening day and once again shows Superstar’s pull as an urban star. Unfortunately the smaller B and C centers haven’t been unanimously on board for the film in many territories. There were few exceptions but largely they were dull with Ceded territory being the worse of them all.

Still, Aagadu is the highest opener among Mahesh Babu films beating his previous best 1 Nenokkadine. It is also the biggest opener of the year so far among the films released in Telugu Film industry. The talk of the film is mixed and multiple releases are planned week after week which might hamper its collections at the box office, says the trade. For now though all the eyes are on the dreaded Monday to see how well the film holds or how badly it falls.

The top three openings in Telugu cinema so far are as follows.

1.Atharintiki Daredi.

2.Aagadu.

3.Baadshah.
