9 hours bhumi pooja for capitalIt is known that the state government had confirmed that the Bhoomi Puja of the upcoming state capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati will take place on June 6th at 8.49am. The rituals that day will go on according to the Vaishnavite tradition and consisting of rituals, homams, practiced by the Tirumala Tirupati Devesthanams (TTD).

The rituals will start as early as 5am that day. The entire area where the Bhoomi Puja will be performed will be cleaned with water brought from rivers Ganga, Krishna, Godavari, Narmada and Tungabhadra. Vishwaksena Puja, similar to the Ganapati puja in the Shaivite tradition will be performed first and will be followed by punya havachanam, astadikkala puja and Navagraha puja.

Later, amidst vaastu puja, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu will complete the Bhoomi Puja and lay the stone which will have imprints of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. The entire rituals are expected to last for about 9 hours that day. Sources say the Bhoomi Puja will be performed some where between Tallayapalem and Mandadam situated to the east of river Krishna.
