If the buzz from government sources is to be believed, Andhra Pradesh government is planning to create the 14th district in the state. After the bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh is left with 13 districts and the number 13 is not considered lucky in several countries. So the government is planning to make it 14. According to the plan, The 7 mandals submerging under Polavaram project which were recently added from Khammam to AP, 10 Mandals from East godavari and 3 Mandals from West Godavari will be added to form the 14th district.
As of now these mandals are too far away from their district head quarters. So, this new district will also help in easy administration. The new district will have tribals in more numbers and the government is planning to name it after popular Freedom fighter Alluri Seetha Rama Raju. The district collectors have already started the work on this and the announcement of this district may take place on August 15.
