‘Sarabjit’ starring star actress, Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead can’t have a release in Pakistan. Why? First reason is because of the subject of the movie which is anti-Pakistan? Which Pakistani distributor would buy the movie?
Another reason is the off-beat theme. There are no commercial elements like ‘song-dance sequences which are common in Bollywood films and for which there is huge market in Pakistan. So, no distributor would try to buy a movie which would not bring returns, would they?
Most of the Bollywood films which are non-commercial, didn’t find distributors in Pakistan. Coming to the domestic run, the film isn’t really having a great run. However, Aishwarya is the commercial selling point of the film which earned mixed reviews from the critics.
